Rogers Presenting Advanced Material Solutions for Aerospace and Defense Applications

Advanced Material Solutions are becoming increasingly important as key elements to successful defense applications. With much of the RF Chain moving to digitized solutions, the antenna distribution network and radiating element performance becomes much more critical. Active Electronically Steerable Array (AESA) antenna systems are being deployed in numerous systems from radar electronics to communication to SATCOM systems. AESA antenna systems contrast from previous generation passive systems, in that each antenna element combines a transmit/receive module and radiating element allowing for broad frequency management, pointing individual beams (or combination of beams) to multiple targets of interest. The architectural changes from traditional steered antennas (mechanically) to PESA (Passive Electronically Steered Arrays) to AESA designs are driving challenges to the material technologies needed. To respond to technology evolution, Rogers Corporation introduced several new materials in the past few years, such as MAGTREX® Magneto-Dielectric system which is revolutionizing VHF-UHF antenna systems, Radix™ resin systems expanding the capability for 3D (Additive Manufacturing) to lens and field of view enhancement applications, shaped dielectrics from our TMM® product family, High Thermal Conductivity Laminates and COOLSPAN® Thermally & Electrically Conductive Adhesive (TECA) for high thermal conductivity bonding.
