Traditional automation performs best in a highly organised environment. Products must always arrive in the same position, production lines need to maintain a fixed rhythm, and individual tasks should remain predictable and repetitive. However, the European electronics industry is increasingly operating under completely different conditions. Short production runs, frequent product changes, component shortages and unpredictable order schedules can make a factory resemble a living organism rather than a precisely calibrated machine. Speaking at Evertiq Expo Kraków 2026, Piotr Owczarek, CEO of AiRob, argued that machine vision, 3D modelling and artificial intelligence could make robots better suited to this complex environment.

US semiconductor manufacturer Onsemi is reportedly planning to cut between 200 and 300 jobs at its plant in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Czech Republic, according to Czech media outlet e15. The cuts follow an earlier round of approximately 170 layoffs at the same facility in 2025.

The DRAM industry posted revenue of USD 97 billion in the first quarter of 2026, up 81% quarter-on-quarter, driven by a rapid surge in contract prices for conventional DRAM. Contract prices rose approximately 93 to 98 percent compared to the previous quarter, according to TrendForce.
