Ventec opens first Southeast Asian plant in Thailand
PCB materials supplier Ventec International Group has officially opened its new manufacturing facility in Thailand, its first production site in Southeast Asia. At the same time, the company is investing USD 50 million in expanding its operations in Kunshan, eastern China.
The Thai plant will make prepreg, bond-ply and laminates for high-reliability PCBs in sectors such as aerospace, defence, industry and medical technology. As Evertiq reported in March, Ventec expects the facility to produce around 3 million square metres of prepreg and 80,000 square metres of bond-ply per month at full capacity. Production will ramp up gradually through 2028. Until now, Ventec’s manufacturing has been in China and Taiwan.
Ventec says the investments are meant to make its supply chain more resilient and meet growing demand from AI, high-performance computing and advanced electronic materials, according to a press release from the company. When the Thai plant was announced, Ventec presented it as part of a “China plus one” strategy, aimed at customers in high-mix, high-reliability sectors at a time when some laminators are shifting capacity towards AI infrastructure and IC substrates markets.
The expansion comes as the shortage of PCB materials has spread from advanced laminates to standard FR-4, as laminate makers shift capacity towards higher-value products and lead times and prices rise.
