CORE-emt builds new headquarters as Nordic SMT demand grows
Danish SMT equipment supplier CORE-emt is building a new headquarters in Aars, Denmark, and expects to move in in March 2027. The company says growing demand from EMS and OEM customers in Scandinavia and the Baltic region has left the company short of space.
“Our current building has served us well, but we’ve spent years rearranging it to fit a company it was never designed for. Now we get to start from scratch, and we’re really looking forward to it,” says Steen V. Haugbølle, Managing Director of CORE-emt, to Evertiq.
Haugbølle tells Evertiq that the new headquarters will include two showrooms where OEM and EMS companies can see solutions in action demonstrated and get hands-on training.
The investment is in the DKK double-digit million range, and construction began in August, when the plot was prepared for the foundation. The walls went up in mid-September, windows and doors have been fitted, and the work has now moved indoors. The general contractor is SonHøj.
When asked whether the investment reflects growing demand or a change in strategy, Haugbølle says it is mainly about demand.
“Many EMS and OEM companies in Scandinavia and the Baltic region are thriving, and we’re seeing an increased order flow across our area. Alongside our SMT line solutions, intelligent storage solutions in particular are really taking off in our region,” he says.
The new headquarters is the first building designed for CORE-emt from the ground up, and the biggest change will be the two showrooms, which will be four times the size of the current one. The company says that today it lacks the space both to show its equipment and to host several visitors at once for demonstrations and training. In the new building, customers will be able to see the main machines for a complete SMT line alongside storage solutions in a realistic production setup.
The building will also have dedicated training facilities for machine operation, programming and software features, as well as a base for the company’s service engineers between customer visits.
