Former SK hynix 200mm fab in Oregon up for sale
A former 200mm memory fab in Eugene, Oregon, originally built by SK hynix, has been put up for sale. The site has about 170,000 square feet (15,800 square metres) of potential cleanroom production space, and much of the infrastructure is still in place.
Semiconductor real estate specialist ATREG has been engaged to handle the sale, according to the company’s newsletter. The site covers around 200 acres (81 hectares) and includes roughly 1.2 million square feet (111,500 square metres) of purpose-built facilities across three floors, leaving plenty of room for expansion on the campus.
The facility was built for 200mm memory production, and cleanroom, utility and process infrastructure remain in place. The largest cleanroom area covers about 120,000 square feet (11,150 square metres) in a ballroom configuration, with around 21 feet (6.4 metres) from the waffle floor to the top of the interstitial space. The central utility plant and process systems were originally sized for 200mm wafer production, and there is substantial installed infrastructure for power, water and HVAC.
According to ATREG, the site is permitted and ready for a new occupier in semiconductor or semiconductor-adjacent industries, and there are no restrictions on the title. Power availability, however, will depend on the buyer’s intended use, application and how many jobs it creates.
ATREG has not disclosed an asking price, who currently owns the site, or how long the facility has been out of production.
