Infineon completes acquisition of C2i Semiconductors

Infineon Technologies has completed its acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, a Bengaluru-based company specialising in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data centres. The C2i team now becomes part of Infineon's Power Systems division.

As Evertiq reported in August, the acquisition is intended to strengthen Infineon's position in power delivery for AI servers and high-performance computing. C2i's digital power management and control technology will be combined with Infineon's portfolio of silicon, silicon carbide and gallium nitride power semiconductors, as well as its vertical power delivery solutions, according to a press release from Infineon.

The combined teams will work on power delivery solutions for AI infrastructure, including future Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators (SIVR), which place voltage regulation directly in the processor substrate.

"Completing this acquisition marks an important milestone for our AI power business and our innovation activities in India," says Adam White, President of Infineon's Power Systems division."C2i Semiconductors brings exceptional expertise in software-defined power management and system-level power architectures, backed by a highly experienced engineering team."

The deal also expands Infineon's R&D presence in India, where the company currently employs around 2,800 people. Infineon has not disclosed the purchase price or how many employees C2i Semiconductors brings to the group.
