Infineon acquires Bangalore-based C2i Semiconductors
Infineon Technologies has announced the acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, a Bangalore-based company specialising in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data centre applications. The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2026.
C2i Semiconductors brings expertise in intelligent digital power management, multiphase controllers and system-level power architectures, including vertical power delivery and Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators. The technology complements Infineon's existing portfolio of power semiconductors across silicon, silicon carbide and gallium nitride, according to a press release from the company.
The acquisition is driven by the growing power demands of AI infrastructure. As AI processors become more powerful, they create increasingly dynamic and rapidly changing power requirements – demanding systems that can respond faster and more precisely to sudden load fluctuations while maintaining efficiency. Software-defined power solutions address this by combining advanced semiconductors with intelligent digital control and software algorithms that optimise power conversion in real time.
"C2i Semiconductors brings exceptional expertise in software-defined power management and system-level power architectures, backed by a proven highly experienced engineering team. With this acquisition, we will accelerate innovation in power delivery solutions for AI data centres," said Adam White, President of Infineon's Power Systems division in the press release.
The deal also expands Infineon's engineering presence in India. The company currently employs approximately 2,800 people in the country and frames India as a strategic innovation hub within its global R&D network. No financial terms were disclosed.
