Bosch plans to open wafer plant in Germany

German based Robert Bosch GmbH plans to invest about 600 million Euros in a new wafer plant in Reutlingen, Germany.
Production will start in mid 2009. Bosch plans to produce MEMS, ASSPs, ASICs, analog and power devices at the plant. The plant will employ approximately 800 people. Bosh plans to close its existing production in Reutlingen-Rommelsbach in favour for the new plant.

Automotive applications are the main target for the products manufactured at this site, several sources said.
