Panasonic to Produce LCD-TVs in Russia

Matsushita Electronic has signed a one-year contract with Kaliningrad-based electronics firm Baltmikst to produce 300,000 LCD-TVs per year.

The first Panasonic LCD TVs will be assembled during this summer. Panasonic's output will be about 300,000 units per year, local media reported. Panasonic is currently assembling a dozen thousand LCD-TVs a year at another facility in the western part of the Kaliningrad region. Matsushita hopes to increase Panasonic's LCD-TV production in Russia five to ten times. Samsung and LG have set up similar productions in Russia while Sony is assembling 300,000 LCD TVs per year at the same factory as Panasonic.
