ST and Intel establish JV in Italy
Swiss based company ST Microelectronics and Intel will collaborate to open up a 12-inch empty plant in Catania, Italy.
According to an Italian source the project is expected to start up in middle of 2008. A manager has been appointed for the new plant. According to speculations the ownership in the joint venture will be 47% ownership by ST and 43% ownership by Intel, 10% will be owned by other investors. The date for an announcement is expected between the 24th and the 26th of April.
