Toshiba to close plant in Germany

In the Regensburg plant production activities will be outsourced, however engineering and quality assurance will remain. Price pressure and flexibility requirements forced the company to close the manufacturing line as well as the repair service and the logistics department. This will affect approximately 250 jobs. Plant manager Christian Schiller told my-ems that the company presently is in the process to qualify and contract an outsourcing partner in the region. Until end of 2007, the Regensburg activities will be gradually phased out and handed over to the outsourcing company.
