Infineon to supply chips for TomTom
German chipmaker Infineon and California-based Global Locate will supply global positioning chips for Dutch company TomTom's car-navigation devices.
The deal to supply chips for TomTom's next-generation ONE devices gives Infineon an important foothold in the fast-growing navigation systems market.
TomTom has more than half the European market and 20 percent of the U.S. market for portable, dedicated navigation devices.
