Digi-Key expands in the UK-market

“We are looking at localizing our approach more," said Mark Larson, Digi-Key president and COO. “In the United Kingdom, we are considering a broader range of services in the engineering area," he added. Digi-Key runs much of its operation from its United States headquarters in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Because of Digi-Key's focus on selling to design engineers, Larson understands technical support is becoming increasingly important. With this expansion, Digi-Key may also add inventory to support the higher production volumes of components to European customers. “A number of SME manufacturers are looking at us as a fit for their requirements," said Larson. In the past six weeks it has signed several new franchise agreements, including two with UK-based companies Antenova and Jennic.
