German chip market down 8 % in August

The German chip market went down 8% year-on-year in August.

According to ZVEI weak market conditions and falling prices in the microprocessor market are taking their toll on the German semiconductor industry. Although the German chip market was up a slight 1 percent in August as compared to July, it registered a year-on-year decline of 8 percent. The book-to-bill ratio indicates an upgoing trend but ZVEI warns that if there will not be any signs of change in the microprocessor market the weak sales growth will continue for the rest of the year.
