Memec, Finisar sign distribution agreement
Memec Insight, a division of semiconductor distributor Memec, has signed a global distribution agreement with Finisar Corporation, provider of fiber optic subsystems.
Finisar recently strengthened its optical portfolio by acquiring the fiber optic transceiver business from Infineon Technologies AG. Finisar will now be Memec Insight’s exclusive source for these devices.
Used in high-speed data communication, Finisar’s products target Gigabit Ethernet LAN, and fibre channel SAN and MAN applications. Memec Insight provides global engineering expertise and technical knowledge of the IC products that power Finisar’s target applications. The addition of Finisar’s fiber optic subsystem portfolio to Memec Insight’s linecard expands the breadth of solutions available to the distribution division’s data communications and storage customer base.
Due to the global nature of the agreement, Memec Insight will provide seamless supply chain services surrounding Finisar’s products worldwide.
