EMS providers want to take care of everything
Design, pcb, subassembly, full system assembly, logistics, supplier management and, now, aftermarket services; EMS providers want it all.
When Microsoft Corp. launched the long-awaited Xbox 360 game console, the headlines were all about competitive posturing vs. rival manufacturers and whose chips were on the motherboard.
At the time of the Xbox debut, it seemed of little consequence that three EMS companies—not one—would manufacture the boxes. What was more interesting was that one EMS company—not three—would provide postsales customer support.
