Major opposition against REACH

13 countries are now rising to oppose the coming REACH directive.

EU:s new environmental effort, the REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals) is a general regulation for use of chemicals. Certain chemicals under REACH are used in the electronics industry and therefore the electronics industr now will face som problems with banned widely used chemicals. Australia, Brazil, Chile, India, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and the United States have now come together to oppose this new directive. REACH is focusing on just approving chemicals that are proved safe or with now healthy risks attatched while the RoHS directive focuses on banning proved harmful chemicals.
