Elemaster acquires GDM - adds locations in Belgium and Romania

Italian EMS provider, Elemaster, is strengthening its global footprint by acquiring GDM Electronics with locations in both Belgium and Romania.
Elemaster has just finalised the acquisition of 100% of the shares in GDM Electronics. The investment is a part of the Italian company’s globalisation plan; which has – this far – resulted in the company having locations in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Romania, The US, China, India and Tunisia, a press release reads.

“In the same year when Elemaster celebrates its 40th anniversary from the constitution, we have achieved another important goal for the strategic global development of Elemaster Group. Moreover, this year we will complete three additional projects: the inauguration in May 2018 of a larger facility in China, the opening in July 2018 of a new and state of the art plant in the USA (Duluth, Georgia) and the expansion of our German subsidiary, CAD UL GmbH, where we would like to create an [sic!] European center for electronic engineering and fast prototyping,” Gabriele Cogliati, Elemaster’s President & CEO in the release.

GDM Electronics is made up by two companies, GDM Electronics in Herentals (Belgium) and GDM Electronics srl in Curtea de Arges (Romania). And much like its new owner, GDM Electronics is an electronics-mechatronics subcontractor. The company employs around 200 people and has an annual turnover of around EUR 20 million.

“It is Elemaster’s intention to invest in the Romanian facility, also building a new facility that will enable new projects to be transferred to Romania,” explains Luc Switten (appointed as Managing Director and CEO of Elemaster Belgium and Romania).
