The Foxbot’s are coming – 40’000 installed

EMS giant Foxconn has reportedly been installed 40’000 robots to take care of manufacturing at several facilities in China.

The robots – fittingly called Foxbot’s – are being rolled out from the company’s factories in Taiwan, Shenzhen and Jingzhen, China. The total robot production is expected to reach about 10’000 units per year, the group's general manager of the automation technology department committee, Dai Chia-peng, told Taipei-based Central News Agency reports to DigiTimes. The company is currently installing the robots in a number of its manufacturing facilities in China – including a tablet plant in Chengdu, an industrial base in Zhengzhou as well as in computer products and peripheral plants in Kunshan and Jiashan. Besides some components – such as speed reducers and servo motors – Foxconn actually manufactures most of the controllers and components needed for the bots in-house. And while the company does make its own robots, Foxconn does not rule out the possibility of buying robots from other companies, the report continues.
