Samsung, Philips & Siemens - the biggest patent applicants
The European patent office received a record number of patent filings in 2014.Among the ten most active filers, five companies came from Europe, three from Asia, and two from the US.
Samsung again headed the list of top applicants, followed by Philipps and Siemens. Patent filings at the EPO grew by 3.1 percent in 2014, hitting a new record high of over 274'000. A total of 64 600 patents were granted by the EPO in 2014.
