GE starts construction of new Polish facility

GE’s Industrial Solutions business has begun the construction of a new, 45'000-square-meter factory in Bielsko-Biala, Poland.

GE is investing USD 54 million over the life of the project to build the new European facility to better serve its customers globally. The factory is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2015. The new Bielsko-Biala facility will enable GE to accelerate product development and manufacturing by combining engineering, development, testing and manufacturing operations in a centralized, high-tech environment. In addition, the site will serve as a new regional customer experience center. “GE's investment of over USD 50 million in the new Bielsko-Biala facility will serve our customers globally and enable GE to accelerate growth through the integration of advanced, lean manufacturing technologies,” said Mark Begor, CEO of GE Energy Management. “Whether it’s through exceptional quality, product life cycle management or reduced lead times, this new facility will enable us to deliver simpler, smarter and faster solutions to our customers,” said Stuart Thompson, general manager, Power Equipment, GE’s Industrial Solutions business.
