RoHS causes supplying problems<br>for connector suppliers

The fact that the transition into RoHS compliance is made very sporadic among the electronics companies the suppliers and connector makers may face problems to meet the variable demand.

"There could be problems because the rate at which customers will transition their products over to versions that comply with the Restriction on the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive is unknown, Jeff Brown, product director at Tyco Electronics told Purchasing.com. 'What we've seen is a real sporadic changeover by customers. European customers started as far back as 18 months ago. Some customers in Asia are just starting to shift, and customers in the Americas are taking a longer time to make the transition,'' Jeff Brown, product director at Tyco Electronics told Purchasing.com.
