Spirit buys Teknoflex equipment

PCB manufacturer Spirit Circuits has purchased Teknoflex’s production equipment.

In light of recent announcements, which highlighted the administration of Teknoflex Interconnect Solutions Limited, Spirit Circuit’s Managing Director, Steve Driver, has released the following statement. “Sadly trading conditions and tough competition have resulted in the demise of one the UK’s longest established flexible PCB manufacturers. Although confidence in UK manufacturing is growing, this highlights the challenges being faced by many businesses that rely on a single product offering and that do not diversify and embrace trading with offshore suppliers. Despite unresolved matters, we are in the position to announce the purchase of all Teknoflex’s tooling and production equipment. This bespoke equipment will be installed at two of our sites – Spirit Circuits’ factory in Waterlooville and Lyncolec’s factory in Poole. It will enable us to expand our production capabilities and provide employment opportunities in the future.” Spirit Circuits already provide an extensive range of PCBs, which include complex multilayer and MPCBs. At the end of 2013 Spirit Circuits announced the acquisition of Poole-based PCB manufacturer Lyncolec and now offer both Flex and Flex-Rigid PCBs. Both Spirit Circuits and Lyncolec are part of SCL PCB Solutions Group.
