First 10.000 Foxconn robots have arrived

The Taiwan-based manufacturer Foxconn has reportedly begun replacing its workers with robots.

The first lineup of 10.000 robots, named “foxbots”, have arrived in at least one of Foxconn's factories, and another 20.000 is expect by the end of the year. This according to a post on Singularity Hub. According to the chinese site Techweb, the robots will cost between USD 20.000 to 25.000 each, which would be roughly over three times the average salary of one worker. However, due to international pressure, Foxconn increased worker salaries by 25% earlier this year. Foxconn employs roughly 1.2 million workers (in China) and robot replacements would heavily effect the manufacturing industry. Both solving worker issues, and create them.
