Panasonic to close down in CZ
Japanese electronics giant Panasonic is to close its Czech facility - which produces LCD panels - in Žatec.
All 615 employees will be affected by the closure; scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Local media reports that financial difficulties as well as low sales have been named as reasons for the closure.
The facility, located in Triangle industrial zone near Žatec, was opened in 2007.
Mass dismissals have negatively affected the region, which has one the highest unemployment rates in the Czech Republic (13.2%).
