Foxconn raises salaries at Chinese factory by 16 percent

Foxconn has raised salaries by 16 percent at a plant making iPhones.

Bloomberg reports that the company has confirmed the raise in an email. The probation period, after which workers get a higher base salary, for new workers as also been halved. Monthly salaries for entry-level employees Zhengzhou factory has been raised to 1,800 yuan (283 USD) from 1,550 yuan. Probation was cut to three months from six months. An extra 200 yuan per month will be paid to production workers during the peak months of August to November reported Bloomberg.
