HP, Dell and Apple move up in green guide

HP has topped Greenpeace's guide to greener electronics, while Nokia has dropped down two places from the previous top spot.

The guide, released by Greenpeace, ranks 15 leading mobile phone, TV and PC manufacturers on policies and practices to reduce their impact on the climate, produce greener products, and make their operations more sustainable. HP, with a score of 5.9 out of 10, moved up three places to the top spot, followed by Dell, Nokia and Apple. Greenpeace said HP was strongest on sustainable operations and energy criteria but could improve on green products criteria. Dell scored best on energy criteria and moved up eight places on the list. Apple moved up five places and was ranked top company on green products along with Sony Ericsson.
