Unimicron reports fire at Taoyuan IC substrate plant
Unimicron Technology reported a fire at the PCB/substrate facility located in Taoyuan (Taiwan) on October 2, 2011.
The fire, reportedly to have started in the early morning of October 2, 2011, caused damages to "some facilities for backend production of chip-scale packaging (CSP) substrates", writes DigiTimes. However, no employees were harmed.
To minimise the effect on client orders, Unimicron will be shifting some capacity to its facilities in Hsinchu (Taiwan) and Suzhou (China).
