Court makes HPI bankruptcy official

The bankruptcy court in Holbæk has - in today's meeting (September 27, 2011) - accepted the bankruptcy filing of Danish EMS-provider HPI Electronics & Cable.

Benny Petersen, 3F, union representative for 25 of the affected workers, said that the company has around DKK 93 million in deficits. However, HPI Electronics & Cable has - for some time - neglected to pay into the pension fund and "the former employees are now facing a debt of approx. DKK 2.5 million, which hopefully will be paid by the Guarantee Fund". A possible restructuring of the company? "I find it very difficult to see the possibility of a reconstruction, but we hope it and naturally want to enter into an agreement for future employees with the new company." ----- Note: HPI Electronics & Cable had filed for bankruptcy on September 16, 2011. / Image © Benny Petersen
