Autonomous cleaning robots firm Peppermint raises $10 million

Peppermint Robotics, a Pune- and Austin-based company, plans to expand its portfolio of autonomous floor-cleaning and material-handling robots, while advancing the development of its next-generation CR cleanroom robotics line.

Peppermint Robotics, a Pune- and Austin-based company developing autonomous cleaning robots, has announced an INR 1 billion (approximately USD 10.5 million) Pre-Series B funding round led by pi Ventures and Crane Venture Partners, with participation from Asiana Fund. The investment comprises a combination of primary capital and secondary share transactions, Peppermint said.

Peppermint’s autonomous cleaning robots are deployed across a range of commercial and industrial environments, including factories, hospitals, airports, malls, warehouses, hotels and universities. The company primarily serves facility management companies that oversee cleaning operations, including the selection of equipment, chemicals and cleaning processes.

Peppermint develops its robotics hardware, software and perception systems in-house, with assembly operations in Pune, India. Powered by its proprietary Peppermint OS, the robots use computer vision and LiDAR to map environments, plan cleaning routes and avoid obstacles autonomously. A cloud-based dashboard enables real-time monitoring of robot operations.

“Cleaning teams keep hospitals, factories and airports running. Our robots work alongside them and take on the most repetitive, physically demanding jobs, like floor scrubbing and specialty material transportation,” Runal Dahiwade, Founder and CEO of Peppermint Robotics, said. “Our customers judge us on one thing: a clean floor, every shift. So we build our robots heavy-duty, and we stay with every machine for its whole life. This round lets us build more of them, closer to our customers worldwide.”

Looking ahead, Peppermint plans to expand its portfolio of autonomous floor-cleaning and material-handling robots, while advancing the development of its next-generation CR cleanroom robotics line, the company said.

“Peppermint robots have demonstrated reliable performance at scale with clear ROI in demanding environments such as healthcare and hospitality,” Shubham Sandeep, Partner, pi Ventures, said. “We are proud to partner with Runal and the team as they build a global robotics company from India.”

Anandamoy Roychowdhary, Managing Director - India & APAC, Crane Venture Partners, said Peppermint’s growing presence across three continents demonstrated strong global potential.

“With its strong in-house engineering capabilities, vertically integrated business model and impressive international traction, Peppermint has demonstrated its ability to develop and scale globally competitive robotics solutions,” Neha Aggarwal, Investment Director, Asiana Fund, said.
