Note Finland joins Finnish defence industry association

Note’s Finnish subsidiary will join PIA, the Finnish defence and aerospace industry association, from 1 January 2027. The membership follows the move into a new, larger factory in Hyvinkää, which is Note’s largest investment in Finland since the operation became part of the group in 2005.

The new factory has roughly twice the production floor space of the previous one, according to a press release from Note. The investment covers new SMD assembly lines and feeders, new reflow ovens, X-ray and AOI inspection, cleaning and coating, as well as traceability, software and training. Upgrades to the production environment, infrastructure and security are also part of it.

Note Hyvinkää makes everything from prototypes to series production, including PCBAs and complete box-build products. Industrial customers are its largest segment today, but Note sees security and defence as a long-term strategic market. Through PIA, the company wants to build closer ties with the Finnish defence industry.

“Many PIA companies develop their own products and specialist technologies. Our role can be complementary: helping customers industrialise those products and move from prototypes into reliable series production,” says Filip Svanberg, Sales Director Security & Defence at Note.

According to Note, customers are paying more attention to where their products are made and how secure their supply is. The company sees continued room for growth in Finland, particularly in demanding applications where customers want production close to their own operations.
