MKS expands Atotech plating equipment plant in Guangzhou

MKS is investing USD 25 million to more than double the size of its Atotech equipment plant in Guangzhou, China. The expansion is meant to meet demand for plating equipment from fast-growing manufacturers in Greater China and Southeast Asia.

The plant will grow from 20,000 to 50,000 square metres, and MKS plans to add 30 new machining and fabrication systems and create more than 300 jobs, according to a press release from MKS. Work began in June, and the expansion is now expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2027.

According to MKS, demand is coming mainly from manufacturers in Greater China and in Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand and Vietnam. As well as more production capacity, the expansion will strengthen project execution and local installation teams. MKS will also continue to support R&D in Guangzhou, including dedicated space for testing and validating new products, and build up local engineering through training and joint projects with its teams elsewhere.

MKS does not say how much the plant’s production capacity will increase.
