LS Eco Energy to establish Vietnam base for producing ultracapacitors

The South Korean company announced that its Vietnamese manufacturing subsidiary, LSCV, will invest approximately KRW 65 billion (about USD 48.5 million) to construct ultracapacitors production facilities.

South Korea’s LS Eco Energy will expand into a new, high-value business area by producing ultracapacitors (UCs) for AI data centers (AIDCs).

The company announced that its Vietnamese manufacturing subsidiary, LSCV, will invest approximately KRW 65 billion (about USD 48.5 million) to construct UC production facilities.

This investment will help affiliate LS Materials fulfill its growing orders for AIDC UCs. LS Materials recently signed a supply contract worth approximately USD 51.5 million with a U.S. hydrogen fuel cell company, and is in discussions about additional contracts to be signed before year-end.

LSCV will manufacture UCs on an OEM basis using LS Materials’ technology. Mass production and deliveries are set to begin in April 2027, with a target of approximately KRW 150 billion in annual revenue by 2030, LS Eco Energy said.

The arrangement is expected to create a new high-value revenue stream for LS Eco Energy while allowing LS Materials to diversify its manufacturing footprint across South Korea and Vietnam.

“We will develop UCs as a new growth driver, alongside busducts, as we expand our business into high-value products for AIDCs,” said Lee Sang-ho, CEO of LS Eco Energy.
