TechPoint acquires Southampton-based EMS provider Esprit Electronics
UK electronics manufacturer TechPoint has acquired Esprit Electronics, an EMS provider based in Southampton. All 92 Esprit employees join the TechPoint Group, and the company will keep operating from its current facilities.
Esprit Electronics was founded in 1985 and serves multinational industrial customers with manufacturing and test services, according to a press release from TechPoint. The company also designs and manufactures custom filtered connectors for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC, EMI and RFI) and transient voltage suppression (TVS), including lightning protection. In its own press release, Esprit says it will continue to offer EMS, supply chain services, design support (DFM, DFT and DFX) and logistics.
“We have a shared vision of growing UK electronics manufacturing. Together, we can now offer customers a complete solution, combining complementary capabilities and expertise within one group,” says Perry Duffill, CEO of TechPoint.
Esprit describes TechPoint as one of the largest fully UK-owned electronics manufacturers. According to TechPoint, the acquisition gives customers of both companies more manufacturing capacity, access to specialist automation and engineering expertise, and a more resilient supply chain.
“Esprit Electronics and TechPoint have a great deal in common including shared values, ambition and many complementary solutions, so this is a great next step for the company. We’re delighted that Esprit Electronics will continue to be UK owned and managed,” says Laurie Sigournay, Managing Director of Esprit Electronics.
The companies have not disclosed the purchase price.
