Fathom expands aerospace, defense platform with 3 acquisitions

The addition of TCS Industries, TCS Electronics, and Precision Grinding & Manufacturing Corporation reinforces Fathom’s ability to address growing demand for precision components, integrated electronics and complex assemblies.

CORE Industrial Partners, an American manufacturing, industrial technology and industrial services-focused private equity firm, has announced that its portfolio company, Fathom Digital Manufacturing, has acquired TCS Industries, TCS Electronics, and Precision Grinding & Manufacturing Corporation, expanding its precision manufacturing capabilities and presence in the aerospace and defense markets.

The acquisitions increase Fathom’s nationwide footprint to 10 facilities and approximately 700 employees, creating additional capacity to support technically demanding programs while helping customers address production bottlenecks and reduce supply chain complexity, according to a media release.

“These acquisitions position Fathom to pursue larger opportunities across aerospace and defense while continuing to invest in the people, technology and manufacturing capabilities needed to support long-term growth,” said Matthew Puglisi, Partner at CORE.

Headquartered in Hartland, Wisconsin, Fathom provides more than 25 advanced manufacturing services, including additive manufacturing, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, tooling, assembly, finishing and engineering support.

“TCS and PGM bring exceptional technical talent, proven capabilities and deep customer relationships that make our platform stronger,” said Rush LaSelle, Chief Executive Officer of Fathom. “Together, we can support more complex programs, provide customers with a broader range of solutions and help them navigate the increasing demands of aerospace and defense manufacturing.”

TCS Industries and TCS Electronics, based in Rochester, New York, have nearly 35 years of experience supporting aerospace and defense customers. Their capabilities include precision CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, aluminum dip brazing, welding, electro-mechanical box builds, PCB assemblies and cable and wire harnesses.

“For nearly 35 years, we've built TCS around the trust of our customers and the expertise of our employees,” said Manoj Shekar, founder and President of TCS. “Joining Fathom gives us the resources and broader capabilities to build on that success while maintaining the customer focus and operating discipline that have defined our business.”

PGM supports aerospace and defense customers from low- and mid-volume manufacturing through full-rate production, with expertise in technically demanding components requiring rigorous quality control and documentation.

“Our family has spent nearly six decades building a business known for precision, reliability and customer service,” said Todd Hockenberger, Corporate VP of PGM. “Fathom shares those values and brings the resources and broader capabilities to help us take the next step.”
