Jabil and Adani plan 50:50 joint venture for AI hardware in India

Jabil and Adani Enterprises have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture that would manufacture AI racks, servers and data centre equipment in India. The companies are aiming for a manufacturing capacity of several gigawatts.

The proposed joint venture would be owned equally by the two companies, according to a press release from Jabil. It follows the strategic alliance Jabil and the Adani Group announced in June to build up manufacturing of AI and data centre infrastructure in India. The joint venture still depends on definitive agreements being signed and on the necessary approvals.

The plan is to manufacture and assemble AI racks, servers, storage and networking equipment, as well as the systems needed to power and cool them, including power distribution units, liquid cooling systems and transformers. The joint venture would also provide installation and commissioning. Its rack manufacturing capacity is expected to support computing systems with a combined power capacity of several gigawatts.

“The signing of this MoU is the next step forward in our shared efforts to establish a scaled AI infrastructure manufacturing platform in India, a market we believe will become increasingly important for both domestic and global AI infrastructure demand,” said Mike Dastoor, CEO of Jabil.

The joint venture is meant to serve the Indian market and support exports. India’s data centre capacity is expected to reach 5–8 gigawatts by 2030, driven by AI, cloud expansion and requirements for data to be stored locally. The companies put the global market opportunity in AI computing infrastructure at more than USD 3 trillion over the next seven years.

For Adani, the project fits into a planned USD 100 billion investment in 5 gigawatts of AI-ready data centres powered by renewable energy by 2035. The joint venture would add hardware manufacturing to the group’s existing businesses in energy, infrastructure and data centres.

“At Adani, our vision is to expand up the AI value chain evolving from powering and hosting AI infrastructure to engineering and manufacturing the critical systems that will define the next generation of computing,” said Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group.

For Jabil, which reported revenue of USD 36 billion for fiscal year 2026, the joint venture would expand its presence in the Indian data centre market. The company has recently strengthened its data centre offering through the acquisitions of Hanley Energy Group, which provides power and energy management solutions, and Mikros Technologies, which specialises in liquid cooling.
