Enel closes acquisition of 810 MW solar portfolio in US

Italian company Enel has closed the acquisition from Excelsior Energy Capital of a portfolio of solar plants located in the United States for a consideration of around USD 760 million.

Italian company Enel has closed the acquisition from Excelsior Energy Capital of a portfolio of solar plants located in the United States with an overall installed capacity of 810 MW and an expected average output of around 1.6 TWh per year for a consideration of around USD 760 million, which includes adjustments customary for these types of transactions. The consideration for the acquisition is financed by cash flows from current operations, Enel said.

The transaction follows the agreements signed in February 2026, which provide for the acquisition of a portfolio of wind and solar plants with a total installed capacity of over 1 GW, for an enterprise value referred to 100% of the entire portfolio of approximately USD 1.3 billion.

“The closing of the acquisition of the remaining 205 MW of wind capacity included in the abovementioned agreements is expected by the fourth quarter of 2026, after which the Enel Group is expected to achieve in North America an installed capacity entirely from renewable sources of over 13 GW of wind, solar and storage facilities,” Enel said.

The acquisition is expected to generate a positive effect of approximately USD 90 million per year on the Enel Group’s consolidated ordinary EBITDA.
