Eaton to acquire Italian switchgear maker COL Group

Eaton has agreed to acquire COL Group, an Italian maker of medium-voltage power distribution equipment, at an enterprise value of EUR 810 million. The deal expands Eaton's European manufacturing capacity as demand grows from data centres and utilities.

COL Group develops medium-voltage switchgear free of SF₆, grid automation technology and modular power systems, according to a press release from Eaton. The company has around 400 employees, operates facilities in Turin, Milan, Bergamo and Catania, and is forecast to generate sales of EUR 250 million in 2027. The seller is Oaktree's Power Opportunities strategy.

"The acquisition will enhance our ability to support utility and data centre customers' increasing need for resilient, sustainable power infrastructure and integrated grid-to-chip power solutions," says Omar Zaire, President of Eaton's EMEA Region, Corporate and Electrical Sector.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
