Air Liquide invests over €170M to support chip manufacturer in Japan

Air Liquide will build, own and operate several production units to deliver large volumes of ultra-pure nitrogen, oxygen, argon and hydrogen, including significant backup storage capacity.

France’s Air Liquide has announced a new investment of more than EUR 170 million to supply ultra-high purity gases to a leading semiconductor manufacturer in Japan. Under a long-term agreement, the Group will support the expansion of its customer’s existing logic chip production facility, Air Liquide said.

Air Liquide will build, own and operate several production units to deliver large volumes of ultra-pure nitrogen, oxygen, argon and hydrogen, including significant backup storage capacity. These gases are essential to ensure the ultra-clean and stable environments required for cutting-edge chip manufacturing.

“This new investment in Japan, which supports the expansion of a leading manufacturer of advanced chips, demonstrates the great confidence our customers place in our pioneering industrial solutions,” said Ronnie Chalmers, Air Liquide Group Vice President, in charge of supervising operations in Asia-Pacific. “Air Liquide is a key partner to the semiconductor ecosystem, and our solutions act as a foundational backbone to the growing AI technology sector. We are proud and fully prepared to support the continued growth of the Japanese semiconductor industry.”
