Metis Group acquires German EMS provider A+B Electronic
Dutch electronics group Metis Group has agreed to acquire German EMS provider Assmy & Böttger Electronic (A+B Electronic) from OWG. The deal marks Metis Group's first expansion outside the Netherlands.
A+B Electronic is based in Großenkneten, near Bremen, and has around 130 employees serving roughly 150 customers in industries that are similar and complementary to those of Metis Group, according to a press release from Metis Group. Managing directors Bernadette Kirchrath and Sven Kapmeyer will continue to lead the company.
With more than five decades in the industry, A+B Electronic focuses on complex and quality-critical applications, taking products from prototyping to medium- and high-volume series production.
"The acquisition fits well with our strategic plan to strengthen our leadership in our target markets across Europe. A+B Electronic's company culture is also an excellent fit with Metis, providing a strong platform for expanding our international footprint," says Reinier Beltman, CEO of Metis Group.
Boris Wirtz, Chairman of Metis Group's Supervisory Board, describes the deal as a meaningful step in the group's buy-and-build strategy of bringing together electronics companies that complement each other, with synergies to be realised through knowledge and best-practice sharing.
Completion is subject to customary closing conditions, including clearance by the relevant competition authorities. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
