Incap Romania invests in cable assembly for €5m-a-year e-bus project
Incap Electronics Romania has invested in a new semi-automatic cable processing system to support a recently awarded multi-year electric bus project. The project has an estimated annual value of EUR 5 million.
The system automates the application of sealing grommets to cables, which protect cable connections from moisture, dust and vibration, according to a press release from Incap. The investment is intended to improve precision, consistency and efficiency as production requirements increase.
Production for the project started in August, with volumes expected to ramp up gradually.
"The new equipment helps us make our cable assembly process more efficient and increases our production flexibility. It is a valuable addition to our manufacturing capabilities and supports our ability to take on new projects at our Romania factory," said Teodor Bucur, Managing Director of Incap Romania.
Beyond the current project, the equipment broadens the range of cable assemblies the factory can produce. Incap describes the investment as part of the continued development of its cable assembly and testing capabilities in Romania, with further investments planned for future customer projects.
The factory in Galați provides cable assembly, box build and system-level production for customers in industrial, automotive and other demanding sectors, and is certified to the IATF 16949 automotive quality standard.
Incap did not disclose the size of the investment or the name of the customer.
