CesiumAstro acquires mission software specialist 1Aardvark

By combining 1Aardvark’s mission software expertise with CesiumAstro’s satellites, communications systems and advanced computing capabilities, the company can now support more capable missions in which spacecraft can respond to changing conditions.

CesiumAstro, a company headquartered in Austin, Texas, has announced the acquisition of 1Aardvark, a Virginia-based business specializing in mission software, algorithms and systems engineering for national defense programs.

By combining 1Aardvark’s mission software expertise with CesiumAstro’s satellites, communications systems, and advanced computing capabilities, the company can now support more capable missions in which spacecraft can respond to changing conditions and continue operating when connectivity is limited or disrupted, CesiumAstro said in a press release.

1Aardvark’s technology is designed to enable distributed systems to coordinate and execute missions reliably, including in contested or disconnected environments.

“The next generation of defense space systems requires more than exceptional hardware. It requires systems that can adapt, make decisions, and continue executing the mission in increasingly complex environments,” said Shey Sabripour, Founder and CEO of CesiumAstro. “1Aardvark brings deep mission software expertise that complements the systems we already build and will help us deliver more complete, resilient capabilities to the US government faster.”

In 2026, the company also acquired Vidrovr, an artificial intelligence company focused on real-time data analysis, and Jariet Technologies, a US-based semiconductor company, the press release said.

“1Aardvark’s vision has always been to move more mission capability to the edge in a reliable and efficient way,” said Ryan Kenward, President of 1Aardvark. “Joining CesiumAstro gives us the opportunity to bring that vision to a much broader range of space and defense missions and to deliver integrated solutions from the underlying technology through mission execution.”
