Zollner expands Costa Rica facility as part of Americas 2030 strategy
German EMS provider Zollner has officially opened an expansion of its Cartago facility in Costa Rica, adding approximately 10,000 square metres of operational space. The expansion is expected to create around 500 additional jobs by 2030 and forms part of the company's Americas 2030 strategy.
Zollner established its Cartago site in 2014 in the La Lima Free Trade Zone, and the facility has since grown into a key node in the company's international network. The expanded site will serve customers across healthcare and life sciences, aerospace and defence, industrial electronics and automotive, according to a press release from the company.
The Costa Rica location plays a specific role in Zollner's Americas footprint – its proximity to North and South American markets enables short supply chains and rapid response times, making it particularly relevant for customers serving the US market.
"When we established our first facility in Cartago more than twelve years ago, we made a long-term commitment to Costa Rica. Today's expansion is the expression of that commitment. As a family-owned company, we invest where we have conviction," said Markus Aschenbrenner, Member of the Zollner Managing Board.
