Former SK hynix employee jailed for leaking information to Chinese firm

The employee, who formerly worked at SK hynix's office in ​China, was found to have printed out or took photos of documents containing ‌trade ⁠secrets downloaded from the company's internal server, according to Yonhap news agency.

A former employee at SK hynix has been sentenced to 18 months in ​jail for leaking information on semiconductor manufacturing technology to a Chinese company, Reuters reported, citing the Yonhap news agency.  

The Seoul High Court upheld a lower court's sentence during ​an appeal against the defendant.

Classified information on CMOS image sensors was leaked to a Chinese firm in 2022. The employee, who formerly worked at SK hynix's office in ​China, was found to have printed out or took photos of documents containing ‌trade ⁠secrets downloaded from the company's internal server, according to Yonhap.

The ​man admitted all of the charges ​and ⁠most of the information he took was retrieved by the company, the Yonhap report said.
