Flextronics Malaysia to build more high-end

Flextronics International Ltd plans to bring more high-end operations to its Penang facility.

According to a Business Times report, Flextronics Technology (Penang) Sdn Bhd, intends to increase its headcount, building more high-end products and enter niche markets. Flextronics Penang vice-president and general manager Purushothaman Naidu expects the business to triple in three years time. Flextronics Penang has been focusing on the infrastructure segment which includes the worlds fastest super computer, which is shipped to customers within the banking sector and universities, the report stated. The Penang facility now plans to ramp up its automotive, aerospace, and medical segments. Flextronics has about 7,000 workers in Penang and the company plans to add another 500 by the end of 2010. Customers in Penang includes Cisco, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard and IBM, according to the Business Times report.
