Ericsson to lay off in Italy

Swedish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson is to lay off 115 staff at its Italian facilties by the end of 2010. The cut backs will mostly affect the research and development units in Pisa, Pagani, Vimodrone and Genova, the latter will face the majority of layoffs. Trade unions want national authorities to get involved and have called for strike action, reports in local emdia suggest.
