Foxconn to start producing notebooks for Acer?

EMS provider Foxconn has received a test production order from Acer.

The company will produce a small test run for notebooks from Acer. If the test run works as planned, Foxconn will become notebook supplier for Acer in 2011, reports Digitimes. Acer's outsourcing modell is called 3+1 model, which means that the company is ordering most of its production from from Quanta, Compal and Wistron. It also started to use Inventec in 2008 but only for small orders. Today Quanta, Compal and Wistron produce 95% of Acer's notebook orders, according to Digitimes. If price, quality and shipment are good Acer would use Foxconn as its notebook supplier as well.
