Huawei to go for Motorola unit?

China-based communications equipment manufacturer Huawei is rumoured to soon place a bid for Motorola's networks business.

As announced earlier, Motorola will start to spin off and trade its two units—mobile phone business and network service business—as separate entities at the beginning of 2011. The Chinese company is even prepared to sign a 'mitigation agreement' with the US government, a report from the Financial Times suggest. The acquisition—if it actually goes through—will also make other acquisitions in the American market easier. Huawei and Motorola are already partnered on developing 3G technology since 2006.
