500 Kitron workers fear job cuts

Approximately 500 employees at Norway based EMS provider Kitron in Arendal is worried about their jobs.
The company has struggled throughout the last year, and 130 employees had to go. Now the remaining 500 employees are uncertain about the coming year, said the trade representative Bjorn Martin Gottschlich.

Kitron recently received a large order for medical equipment. Deliveries will take place primarily during the first half of 2010, and that means that everything looks good until the summer. The need for staff is more uncertain after the summer, according to company president Day Songedal.

- We know nothing about cuts or staffing situation now. We hope to retain the ones we have, Bjorn Martin Gottschlich said.
