European EMS Industry Down 40%
According to a report by Klaus Pildal Management the European EMS industry, excluding the global player Elcoteq, experienced a downturn year-over-year of 24% in the first half of 2009.
If Elcoteq's figures are taken into account, the downturn was 40%. The downturn has different impact on the European countries. Experiencing a drop of 4.7%, France seems to ressist the downturn quite well. Worst hit was Luxembourg based Elcoteq. Sweden and Britain recorded drop of 30% and 34% respectively. Declining currency vs. The Euro explains part of this. Measured in local currency, the Swedish downturn was 20% and the British drop was 26%.
